Caden Colangelo

My name is Caden Colangelo and I am currently an eighth  grader, this will be my fourth year of robotics.  I did VEX last year and made it to the State Championship.  In fifth grade I went to worlds for VEX IQ!  I specialize in coding.  I do robotics because one day I want to be an doctor that will engineer machines to help humans and animals.  Future job fields I am interested in are biomedical engineering and professional athletics.  In the future I see myself getting a major in biomedical engineering to become a doctor or becoming a professional baseball player.

I would like to go to either Clemson, Vanderbilt, or Louisiana State University (LSU) for college.  I would also like to go to college and get my biomedical engineering degree while I play baseball there.  Outside of robotics I love to play baseball, basketball, do charity work, and train for sports with a company called AA Strength And Speed.  I love sports because they teach you to have a strong work ethic much like robotics does.  I’ve been playing travel baseball with the Virginia Stars since I was eight years old.  I do my best to do a lot of charity work because I had a very close friend, his name was Trevor Blake but he passed away from pediatric Cancer at the age of 12.  Trevor was diagnosed with neuroblastoma and during his treatment he created Trevor’s Treasures.

An organization that delivers toys to kids and adults battling cancer.  When trevor passed my heart was touched by how much he did by raising awareness of cancer and bringing joy to many kids and adults.  I’ve been doing charity work since I was about eight or nine.  He is the reason I get so involved,  he helped start this passion and love of giving back and striving for your dreams no matter how hard it is.  I do not intend to stop this passion anytime soon.  I do not enjoy these as much as my other activities but, I still enjoy them. I also like acting and singing, I have been in a short play, have done choir, and will be this year.

I have also achieved a 4.0 GPA every year.  I feel it’s my job to cure cancer in this world so, I love to learn about physics and substances because everything involves them.  If I’m ever going to create a machine/vaccine to help humans and animals get rid of cancer more than likely I will need to know how to apply physics/certain substances to a create a vaccine or machine to make it process and cure it correctly.  I am ready for all of the challenges coming my way in robotics.  I believe VOODOO will make it all the way.
